Metal End Sections
Steel end sections for HDPE pipe come with a type 2 rod connection that consists of a threaded rod with two flanged nuts. Not only does this provide the pipe inlet and outlet with protection, the metal end sections provide increased hydraulic efficency to help prevent excess erosion and scour at the inlet and outlet of the pipe.

Installation Guidance
Steel end sections for HDPE pipe are supplied with a type 2 rod connection. This connection consists of a threaded rod with two flanged nuts. The “D-Ring” side lug on the steel end section will prove to be very useful during the installation process. The “D-Ring” can be used when lifting or moving the end section and it will be instrumental in pulling the top of the end section snugly onto the HDPE.
Upon delivery the “D-Ring” will be nearly flush against the ears of the end section. The “D-Ring” on each side lug can be easily bent up with the use of ordinary tools. Once the “D-Ring” is bent up, install the end section on the first corrugation of the HDPE pipe. With the steel end section in place and the -floor of the end section level use a come-along. The hooks of the come-along should be inserted into the “D-Rings”. When you begin tightening, the ears of the end section will move closer together. It’s important you do not over-tighten - just make the fit snug.
