While building a Natural Grocers in Georgetown, TX, the developer had to protect the Edwards Aquifer, which provides drinking water for two million people and is primary water supply for agriculture and industry South Central Texas. The protection needed to provide maximum stormwater runoff control at the store’s 1.6 acre Wolf Ranch site, which is part of the Wolf Ranch planned community.

In order to meet the requirements, a two-unit system, working in tandem, was designed to handle a 100-year storm with a capacity for nearly 17,000 gallons (64,253 liters) of water. StormTech chambers and a BayFilter treatment system were chosen because they are cost effective, had all approvals required and would allow Natural Grocers to expand its parking lot for customers.

The StormTech detention system has an installed volume of 2,255 cubic feet (64 cubic meters) of water. The system includes an Isolator® Row, which traps sediments and other contaminants, while BayFilter then removes fine sediments. Combined StormTech and BayFilter removed 87% of total suspended solids (TSS), including oils, fuels, dirt, sand and debris.

The installation was done in Spring 2018 using BayFilter™ 522 with 6 cartridges 198 SC-740 and StormTech® Chambers.
