- 31,000’ (9,450 m) of 12"-36" (300-900 mm) HP Storm Dual Wall Pipe
The base is a global mobility and transportation hub for the Department of Defense, so timing was of the utmost importance in being able to install the pipe. The runway could only be closed for 16 weeks and nearly 6 miles (9.7 km) of pipe needed to be installed.
HP Storm was chosen for the project as its 20’ (6 m) lengths, ease of installation and product availability assured the project could be completed within the allotted time. In addition, HP Storm provides high pipe stiffness and watertight joints that allowed for a reduced amount of imported backfill.
The pipe’s nesting capabilities and ease of handling allowed Kilian’s two crews to install more than 400’ (122 m) of pipe per day on multiple days. The value engineering proposal saved over $30,000 and provided a sanitary sewer grade joint.
